Map of Aureum Art Print
Though seemingly his simplest creation, Bali’s roads were hypnotic, stretching out towards the horizon, the ever moving reeds impossible to focus on. An endless pier across a restless sea, Al lost himself for hours.
Even the simplicity of laying stone and dirt amazed him with enough of it. Just knowing he could walk the length of the continent on a single stretch of dirt was incredible.
From Al’s understanding, following the war, thousands of people were displaced. They’d lost their homes and families and joined the fight to get revenge, and find new purpose. But once the war was won……What good is a warless warrior? Not all wished to return to the humble farm lives their families had built for them. They lost their purpose once more, becoming restless, becoming dangerous.
Balian The Bear, Warren II, and Queen Juliana, The Big Three; These self-made heroes and reluctant leaders sensed the dangerous energy in the armies they’d built. They had instilled that pride and need for vengeance and glory in their men for the war times, to turn peaceful craftsmen and farmers into warriors ready and willing to die for their land and families. But the war was over, the monster’s slain, and peace must remain.
When The Big Three disbanded their armies, those loyal followers who refused to return home were instead put to work. Set to the task of repairing the ravaged land from the first war and preparing it for the next.
The first task was the construction of the first transcontinental road system, connecting every known city and village on Aureum, both for ease of travel and future evacuation.
The second task was the mass retrieval and removal of the unsightly husks of the monsters that caused so much devastation. Any fallen bots and all their pieces were packed onto wagons and hauled south to the Daisy Mountains to a secluded dumping ground in a small valley between four hills. A twisted mountain of robot corpses filled the valley, piling higher than the hills themselves.
Most of the Free Peoples saw it as a cursed place to be left alone and forgotten, to be pushed aside out of sight and out of mind. But Balian The Bear saw it for what it really was: Endless opportunity, or more importantly, free stuff.
